Carey Gale always knew about shifters. It was difficult not to know when your best friends could turn into some of the deadliest beasts. When he gets a daytime job to support his band working at a shifter owned business, he doesn’t expect to fall hopelessly in lust with Broden Lyall, the company’s alpha. Sadly, Broden thinks little of humans. He considers them helpless and weak. But when hunters come after Carey’s friends, Broden learns that not all humans are alike, and he will do anything to have one slim, blond human.

Excerpt

Carey is a human in a part time band with his friends that are shifters.  He has grown up with this knowledge and though he is human he is the alpha of his little pack.  Broden is a panther and alpha of his pride.  He runs into Carey at the bar he and his friends are playing at.  Broden and Carey hook up and though Carey thinks it is all about sex for Broden it’s about finding his mate.

As typical of Amber Kell the story is short and fun.  It’s a comfort read that you know will have little angst and a happy ending.  I have always enjoyed these kinds of books.  As far as critiquing the story and writing from a objective view.  The writing is simple and easy to follow.  The characters are not complex but are fun and interesting.  The story isn’t deep and there is a lot that you don’t get to know about the characters.  Not the highest of writing examples but for fun and entertainment it is good.
